FORMAT

Maximum of 12 teams double elimination with losers bracket and byes (if applicable). Top 4 teams advance to semi-finals. Preliminary games on 2 tandem NBA full courts with 2 referees and 2x12 minute halves per game. Semi-finals and championship games on 1 NBA full court with 3 referees 2x10 minute halves and 3 referees per game. Both days: brief warm up periods, running clock (whistle stops clock during the last 2 minutes of play per half), 1x2 minute halftime, and 2x20 second timeouts + 1x1 minute timeout per team per half. Tie resolutions shall be based on each team's game(s) point differential average. Exception: a 1 minute running clock "sudden death" play will be utilized if either opposing team has not played a game. Team rosters with submitted names will be emailed to respective coaches/managers no later than Sunday, October 27, 2019. Final updates should be made with all roster confirmations returned via email by Wednesday, October 30th, 2019. Changes will not be permitted once tournament play begins.

ELIGIBILITY and RULES

Any combination of active/retired, public/private, paid/volunteer fire, law enforcement, corrections, emergency medical, rescue, and military personnel without current and/or past medical conditions which may conflict with participating in event activities. Registered individuals must complete FR4F and Detroit Pistons waivers and provide a valid agency or department photo identification card at credentialing prior to competing. A minimum of 5 players is required on the court to compete. Safety is everyone's responsibility and professionalism is expected at all times. Only confirmed registered personnel, staff or volunteers are allowed in the immediate competition areas. As a family friendly event, "camaraderie through competition" is encouraged however taunting, bullying and/or unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Violators may be subject to immediate and/or complete suspension. Only rubber soled athletic shoes, non-denim shorts, and matching team colored shirts/jerseys with a unique individual number on the front or back (compliant to NCAA number regulation) is required for each player. Modified intramural basketball rules apply and all protests must be in writing.

REGISTRATION

Online registration via this site only. Chronological order of team registrations will determine byes (if applicable) and bracket seeding. $300 USD tax-deductible donation (+ service fees) per team of 5-10 players & additional players $30 USD each also tax-deductible donation (+ service fees) includes;

Registration ends when 12 teams are registered or on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 12:00 am whichever comes first. No refunds unless event is cancelled (minus services fees). Based on tournament timelines, venue restrictions and other reasons, the Midwest Battle Of The Badges reserves the right to deny registration to any team or player.
